Sioux Blackledge is a 27 year old artist.  Born in Hawaii, raised in southern California, and migrated north to Alaska at the age of ten.  This move connected Sioux back to her roots, being one with mother earth was always her calling.  Alaska has great power in its raw earth energies.  Such a massive frontier gave her spirit  wings.  As she grew and flew into womanhood she knew who she was and why she came to earth.  Being an artist always came natural to Sioux.  Going to college for art was never a real desire to her.  Instead she seeks other artist for inspiration, and took off on a year trip around the world in 2007.  Sioux made her way surfing and skating through 16 countries.  This trip was far better an investment to her soul then any other form of schooling. 

   Here she is painting a colaboration mural of Atlantis.  Sioux is a freespirit Alaskan artist living her dream.  When she is not creating works of art she is out adventuring her great backyard of the Alaskan frontier.  Sioux is an avid skateboarder,  backcountry snowboarder, and an Alaskan surfer.  She even surfs the bore tide in the cook inlet.  The bore tide is a rare tidal change of up to thirty feet plus, that creates a push of water up the inlet and one wave that can be surfed along the sandbar shores for up to a mile.   In the summer she enjoys skating on her longboard downhill  at high speeds.  Carving the highways and byways with her friends.  Traveling Alaska in the endless midnight sun, and visiting summer festivals is Sioux's favorite activity.  It is when her heart is the most swollen with love. Come snowfall Sioux gets into the high mountains as much as possible.  The speed of life slows with the loss of the sunlight.  This is when Sioux gets the most creative, in the heart of the winter.  She has been painting intensely for the past seven years now.  Evolving styles from surrealism to contemporary.  Later emerging a style of deep abstract works sparked with color and movement.  Sioux just had her first child, a baby girl named Ariella.  Her most beautiful creation yet.  To contact Sioux about any of her paintings or prints please e-mail her at freespiritsioux@gmail.com.
